Mother Monster

As fierce as my real Mom is, on this belated Mother's Day I gotta give it up to Mother Monster herself--Lady Gaga. I love you more each day as your constantly unfolding style evolution continues to amaze.

Now if you didn't do it yesterday go call your mom, then watch Mommie Dearest.

Rodarte:States of Matter

I'm really excited that I'm going to LA in two weeks for Sara and Jayson's wedding (congratulations!) and to visit buddies(hurray!). Further sweetening the deal is my plan to spend all day Monday at the Moca! The main draw? Rodarte:States of Matter of course! Rad! I love the Mulleavy sisters, and not just because they are super smart Berkley graduates from Santa Cruz. They are true artists who bring their fantasy world to life through their beautiful garments. I was totally gagging when I saw one of their dresses at the de Young's To Dye For exhibition back in December, so I might be completely seizuring all over the floor with enthusiasm and delight at the Moca. Uh, oh! You should go too! The show runs through June 5th.

Tony Alamo Jackets

Good luck trying to get your hands on one of these ultra fly/turbo sketch Tony Alamo jackets. These babies are going for like $1000 on e-bay. You'd have much better luck getting swooped up by Tony's cult van on Hollywood Blvd where you will be blindfolded and promptly taken to his cult compound and never seen or heard from again. I hear they have pickups daily! Maybe after you are indoctrinated into the cult they give you a jacket, in which case I think its totally worth it.

You may find yourself asking, who is Tony Alamo anyway? Well on top of being a cult leader and a maker of awesome jackets, he is also a child sex offender! Neat-o! Get the whole story here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Alamo

The Emo Clotheshorse

What is it with me and emotional attachments to clothes? Oh no do I sound like Seinfeld?! Horror! Seriously though, I am so ridiculous when it comes to getting rid of clothing--especially when its something I handmade or something I wore in high school (most of which does not fit).
I was trying to consign some things at Golden Rule that fit this months early 90's beach theme and half of it ended up coming back home with me! As for the stuff that ended up in the store, I intentionally priced most of it so high that it probably won't sell. I'm like Steve Buscemi in Ghost World for goodness sakes! Get a grip Long-necker! Here are some examples of what I couldn't let go.

A Middle Agye Pervert original. I manically block printed this on a sunny Sunday last April.
My favorite sweater from 9th grade.

The Beach Bunny sweatshirt, a perfect fit. Yes, the white on the bunnies and the lawn chairs is that white puffy raised stuff you remember from all your fave 90's gear.

Paint splatters, puffy paint, and mirrors make this shirt a serious keeper.

Ugh, when will this sketchiness end? Never?! Yeah probably never.

My Spring Wish List

Normally I am not a huge fan of Spring fashion because of the color palate, but this Spring I am thrilled to see navy, black, and gray abound. Its not that I have anything against color. I have just come to realize that most of the beautiful colors that exist in the world don't belong anywhere near my closet. Allow me to explain. Five years ago I threw open my closet doors and realized that it was a horrible rainbow nightmare in there. I had all these crazy ass clothes and no basics. There was all this teal and hot pink, and I don't even look good in teal! I had this totally slammin teal and silver zebra print sequined top that was totally amazing to look at, but mostly when it was on the hanger. So I swore off color, cleaned out my closet, and only bought clothes that were black or grey. It was pretty easy considering for those years my New Years Resolution was to be more goth. A few years went by and I decided navy blue things were okay to buy, and currently I've been sticking pretty strictly to primary colors (usually all three incorperated at once).

With that said, everything on my wish list is rather colorful! I think I'm going to have to start buying rainbows again.

Ew fur! I hate fur! These scarves are so cute though. Maybe its faux.

John Gallino-You're Fired

This week Galliano was fired from Dior for being an inappropriate, anti-semitic maniac. There was a time when I considered him to be my favorite designer, so its disappointing to find out he is such a dick in real life. Its no secret that Galliano is a total party animal lush (who could forget his rehab departure statement "Now I'm going to Ibiza to retox."), but no level of blacked-outedness excuses talking about putting people in ovens. Thats some Mel Gibson shit. To cheer myself up and remember why I was once so into this asshole, here is a Galliano retrospective. Its always satisfying to see a powerful person fall from grace, but its even more satisfying to see a jerk get their comeuppance. John, you're fired!

Pretty pretty princess!
From Harper's Bazaar
This green dress was always one of my favorites.
Klum
From the same family as the green dress.
Epic gown.
I want this.
Pharoah style.
This guy has CD boobs.
Turbo goth.

Finally, here is the infamous vid that got him fired.
